This position is responsible for the handling of claims assigned with potential excess exposure and the development of a relationship with the claim administration community. Candidates must have worker's compensation claims handling experience. This position is located in the Chicago metro area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Evaluate claims for potential exposure
Coordinate with Medical Claims Manager to mitigate catastrophic cases
Maintain an effective and current diary system to direct all assigned claims
Recommend, establish and modify case reserves within proper authority
Request authority to settle when a settlement opportunity is identified
Review and authorize reimbursements
Plan and conduct audits and visits to Third Party Administrators (TPAs) and promote best practices
Identify potential exposure during a routine audit review
Support growth and retention of business accounts
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's in general studies, liberal arts or business
CPCU and AIC credentials preferred
Knowledge of industry accepted claim handling standards
Advanced Business writing, verbal communication, time management, and customer service skills
Intermediate presentation and Project manager skills; beginner supervisory skills
Ability to prioritize and organize
Ability to analyze and provide solutions to problems using accepted management techniques and negotiate a win-win strategy
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with management, peers, direct reports and individuals inside and outside the company
Develop and maintain skills in all company designated software programs like Excel, Word and Lotus Notes
Cross-Discipline Scoring and Oracle Discoverer preferred
